Everybody’s talking about Karen Klein, the grandmotherly bus monitor from Greece, N.Y., who was recorded last week being bullied by a group of teenagers.
Which makes me wonder: What would you have done if you had been in Klein’s shoes?

I dislike bullies and their cruel attitude. To watch or listen to someone bully or demean another person makes me really mad. If I were Karen Klein, I’m not sure I would have been able to go back to work the next day. (I haven’t watched the video footage but have read about her experience.)
I’ve been bullied and I’ve seen others be picked on and as a result I tend to root for the under-dog. I won’t strike back but I will stand in the way so the other person has a chance to remove themselves from the situation they find themselves in. By not striking back or getting into a verbal battle, I take away the other persons power.
I find great joy in knowing that the students will have to complete community service hours working with senior citizens; in a monitored situation.
